about
Born to a wealthy family from Northern Zealand, Denmark, Emma was enrolled in ballet class at an early age and almost immediately showed great talent in the art form, being transferred to the national ballet school in Copenhagen at age eight. Around this time, her parents - an IT guru and a lawyer - divorced and her mother moved to Copenhagen to live nearby, while Emma attended the stay-in school. She got through the gruelling system of yearly try-outs and exams, becoming an apprentice with the National Ballet of Denmark (NBD) that performed at the opera house in Copenhagen. She quickly made herself noticed and was cast in quite large roles from the get-go, until she was finally hired as a corps dancer at age eighteen. Everyone expected her to be the next big name, so when the French soloist, Margaux Gauthier, was cast to dance Marguerite Gautier in the new Lady of the Camellias, the Union of Danish Dancers made a ruckus and insisted that Emma got cast as well. The AD obeyed and she got third cast, studying the role side by side with Margaux, whom she slowly began admiring and eventually fell in love with.
